Abandoned Piazza San Marco
During one of our early morning walks in Venice you could hardly see 50 meters ahead due to a thick layer of fog, which covered the whole Venetian Lagoon until early afternoon. At this time of day – and especially in this untypical weather – we were literally by ourselves at one of the most spectacular sights in Venice, which is normally covered by tourists (outnumbered only by doves, which for some strange reason had abandoned Piazza San Marco nearly completely today…).
In fact, we were a bit disappointed by the weather and did not really expect any pictures to turn out well. Luckily, we still tried to shoot a few interesting angles here and there – it turns out: foggy HDR can actually work quite well despite the lack of contrast in the scenery!
